Pallets enable storage and shifting of a business’ products in day-to-day matters. Wood and plastic are more common than metal pallets. New pallets are expensive, costing as much as their purpose, making a burgeoning market for used pallets.
Depending on its composition and original purpose, a business could choose to reuse a pallet or sell it. Softwood pallets are discarded after single usage and breakage, unlike those of stronger hardwood. Plastic pallets endure an average of 100 uses according to the weight borne. Disinfecting a used pallet of plastic is necessary prior to its reuse, especially when its future use is to transport or store food.
Majority are unfit for sales. Repair with boards, braces, and nails could alter their subsequent condition, which would then decide the selling price in a suitable grade. Pallet recycling helps to recover lumber from irreparable wood pallets. This enables customized creations, which are categorized as used pallets.
Some facilities choose to sell used pallets, which are incorporated into outdoor structures or other utilities. Prior to burning a broken pallet, a background of the goods it transported is required to ensure the wood has no contamination. If chemical spillage occurred, dangerous toxins would be released upon burning it.
