Working Principles And Benefits Of The Diesel Cement Mixer

Tuesday, February 25, 2014

A cement mixer is a machine that is generally used for mixing sand, gravel, cement and water for the creation of concrete. Many different types and models of cement mixers can be found on the market. Each model has its own specifications and configurations, and the selection depends on the nature and the size of the construction work. Normally, for small scale projects a small sized portable cement mixers are needed, while for big construction projects, cement mixers with more power and capacity are required. One particular cement mixer model that has been widely used today is the diesel cement mixer. This machine is preferred over the electric cement mixer because it is more portable, and easy for usage.

The diesel cement mixer is described as mobile and convenient mixer type, easy to be moved anywhere around the construction site thanks to its rubber wheels. It is consisted of a rotating drum and a diesel engine. The drum of the diesel cement mixer rotates in one direction when the concrete ingredients are mixed, and then rotates in the opposite direction for pouring the concrete on the ground or into wheelbarrows. The main features of the diesel cement mixer are:
  • Diesel engine as main power source. There is no need for electricity
  • Easy movement between different locations
  • Compact design, high reliability, durability and proper mixing operation
  • Equipped with water pump for excellent water circulation inside the drum
  • Quiet operation
The rotating drum of the diesel cement mixer has two sets of blades. One set of blades drags and mixes the concrete ingredients as the drum rotates in one direction. The other set of blades pushes the concrete material towards the opening when the drum rotates in the opposite direction. The blades inside the diesel cement mixer have spiral arrangement for performing the mixing and the discharging operation.

Diesel cement mixers are most suitable for mixing low slump and plastic concrete. This mixing machine is included in many construction projects like: roads and highways, bridges, projects on water, and other big or small civil or industrial construction projects. The diesel cement mixer is widely used and it is very popular in countries that have electricity issues.

The diesel cement mixers have many benefits and advantages over the traditional cement mixer models. First of all, the diesel cement mixer provides excellent mixing uniformity. The diesel cement mixer is capable to mix the ingredients evenly and more quickly than other cement mixers. Another benefit provided by the diesel cement mixer is the constant movement in the rotating drum. This constant movement in the drum prevents concrete drying, and allows longer time frames to be available between mixing and pouring the concrete.
